My favourite piece of media!

My favourite piece of media has got to be the movie called 'Pirates of the Caribbean III AT WORLD'S END'. The reason why it is my favourite piece of media is because of all the science fiction and fantasy movies this is the most interesting. The movie is about the nine pirate lords joining together to fight the British and co battalion. They journey to revive Jack Sparrow because his soul was taken by Davy Jones after the kraken had attacked the pearl and they needed his piece of eight because he never appointed a successor. The reason they need his piece of eight is to resurrect calypso so she can win them the battle. It's a three way battle near the end and the only way to win is to beat all sides but that is not exactly easy for the pirates fighting for the Caribbean. Near the end the pirates see them selves facing a battalion of British ships and a blackmailed Davy Jones crew. The Davy Jones crew would be destroying nearly everyone if they only had their captains heart. Davy Jones heart is in the hands of a inspector who despises all fishman and pirates. What the fishman do to get out of the situation is they attack the British party on the boat but they take the ship under the sea to do so, then they get their captains heart and get ready to attack all while the pirates are trying desperately to beat the British war ships. They use their trump card, Calypso the goddess of the sea and the love of Davy Jones. She loses her human form and becomes the form she once was. She doesn't help the pirates nor any party involved in the war but she creates a giant whirlpool to sink every party in. The pirates sail towards the British ships but the fishman take out all the other British ships. So now it's a three way stand off between the pirates, the fishman pirates and the commodores ship. The commodores ship and the fishman ship both head towards the pirate's ship. Instead of attacking the pirate ship the fishman crew attack the British ship and sink it. Then both ships go into the whirlpool and have a fearsome clash. I like everything about it because it has everything interesting in it, it's very funny but very epic and it has a ton of action in it. The reason i am so into it is because of the actors personalities because jack sparrow is weird but at the same time strong and ready to go. The main actors have laughs while in battle. I love the water effects and the editing. The fact that they had a whirlpool and an unbelievably big waterfall just dazzled me.

Evaluation for my movie!

Evaluation of our work!

Out of all the parts of the production, the pre-production would have to be the hardest part because there was just so much work to do. The first part was thinking about an idea for our movie, we could've done a lot of things but at the time I was trying to brainstorm any idea but i didn't get anything. Until my friend Yaser said some thing about a trolley and I got an idea from it. It was about 3 friends who were playing with trolleys near the roads at Sainsbury's, then the trolley rolled on the road and crashed into a car on the other side of the street.

I wrote the script at an amateur level but my teacher Mr Pyle told me to improve on it so I wrote the stage directions, made it into a proper script and then 1-3 weeks later me, Yaser and Fahim became a team and we decided to do a film based on the script I wrote so I was exited. I still had to improve my script a bit and I still had to do my storyboards.

The storyboards were very, very hard to make because you had to draw the opening freeze frame of the scene which if you weren't good at drawing; you yourself wouldn't know what/where the opening scene was.

1-3 weeks later they told me that they couldn't go to Sainsbury's so I had to change the story which for me meant hell but I still changed it from a story based on 3 teenage boys in secondary school who went to sainsbury's car park to play with a trolley to 3 teenage boys in secondary school who went to a car park to play some football but they hit the ball at a car and it turned out it was really good.

The filming part was very hard because we weren't very organised but we managed to somehow get it filmed and recorded. The acting was an issue we couldn't avoid because we were really new to the script and we were a bit pressured and annoyed because we had only that day to finish off the acting. I didn't do my best at acting because I messed up on the script and I didn't put in enough stage directions which meant I had limited movement.

The roles were fairly given out. I was the director as I was most fond of the script, I was also the cameraman for 1-2 scenes and was also the head editor. Yaser was also a cameraman and he was a deputy editor. Fahim was our stage manager who set up the equipment, as well as being an editor and a camera man who filmed the last 3 scenes.

Overall on the whole I really liked working with Fahim and Yaser and this production because it was fun, we worked hard, we weren't very organised but we managed to keep going!

What we have been doing!

Documentary finished!

What we achieved today!

Today we have finished editing our documentary which we have struggled with for quite some time, it's not distinction worthy but it is at least worth a merit! We have made an entertaining documentary and i enjoyed making this movie, we worked together and we didn't have a lot of problems accept actually making the video into a good video!

Roles

My role was the host who asked the questions and interviewed people and I was the one who found the videos in the movie. Fahim was our stage director who carried the equipment and he setup the stuff we needed in the background and he made sure most people were quiet and didn't come in the shot, well that is most people. Yaser's role was the camera man, he setup the camera and filmed all of the videos that we needed for the documentary.

Evaluation

I enjoyed working with my friends to make the video. On the first week we had to plan to do what we wanted to do but we did the pre-planning and 2 weeks after that week we were out trying to interview people. It was quite hard to interview people because they were in lesson or just didn't want to be in the film. We had to find people who wanted to be interviewed and had shared opinions.

What we have done over the weeks/terms!

We have been interviewing people ever since well I think it was since 14/10/11 and we have enjoyed it and we enjoyed working together. There were some videos that weren't really good so we didn't use all of them but we wanted to have some parts of them in. The interviews were all quite long but in around 3 weeks we had done all the interviews we needed. Then came the hard part where we had to do some secondary research which was harder than I thought because I had to pick out specific information from the internet and it's websites, there were around 2,000 websites that came up but I had be specific so I only went on four. Fahim and Yaser downloaded the videos needed for the documentary such as the Sonic, Mario and the Call Of Duty game play footage at 'keepvid.com.' I had first put the information I gathered from the internet into titles but I was told that there was too much writing so I had to change it a little and because I had to change it I had a space to put the C.O.D game play inside the documentary. As for the actual titles I had to record myself reading them as it would be more interesting being heard rather than letting the audience read the titles!

The questions we asked:

  1. Do you like video games?
  2. Do you play video games?
  3. When you start playing, how much do you play for?
  4. Do you have more than one game console?
  5. What is the best video game for you?
  6. How much do you like video games?
  7. Do you think video games are bad for a student in school?
  8. Do you think video games affect the amount of how much student's learn?
  9. Do you think video games affect the way student's learn?
  10. Do you play often?

What I have done (Movie sessions)! 2

What I have been doing
21/2/12
Today we did my first scene, it was based in the school reception, me, Yaser and Fahim were the actors but me and Yaser were the cameramen. We also tried to do the 3rd scene but we didn't know our lines and we barely had any time left to do the scene.

28/2/12
Today we did my third scene but we were unhappy with it so we had to do it again, we did it good but we were told we had to change the storyline because our members couldn't go to Sainsbury's so we made some slight changes, instead of the Sainsbury's car parks so we made plans to meet at school at Saturday at 2pm. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a camera with me and so I stood Fahim and Yaser up.

6/3/12
Today I told the team that I had made the changes to the script but i had to change the 3rd scene again and we decided to do all the scenes after school. Fahim was our camera man, I was an actor and so was Yaser.

13/3/12
We were going to go after school but we couldn't because I forgot to get the camera to record and no one was there to give us permission so we could take a camera out and also my friends didn't come after school.

20/3/12
We got our costumes, as well as the equipment we needed. Finally when the 5th period bell went me and my friends went an got changed and went out side to film/record our video. It took around 3 hours to finish doing all of the scenes (3-4 scenes) because the other people in the crew were still new to the script.

27/3/12
Today was our last day and I was pretty nervous how we were going to edit a 6 scenes, music and titles into a 5 minute good/perfect movie. What happened first was Fahim looked for a funny music to end it, Yaser started to get the camera because we were going to have some narration in our movie. We finished the narration but Fahim hadn't finished finding the music. We weren't phased because we were going to add the music in last, I started editing the narration clips while Yaser went to put the equipment away. It took around 10 minutes for me to finish the editing, now it was time to start editing the entire movie I first edited out the parts we didn't need in the clips that we didn't need/were useless and put the videos in order of which scene was first and which was last. Yaser edited the narration bits and where they would go as well as some of the titles. Fahim finally found the right music for the end of the video so he made me download it at keepvid.com, we added the video to our video and we were done!
